Physical map of Ukraine: the new course of the Dnipro River

The physical map of Ukraine recently published by the Institute of Advanced Technologies has a number of unique features. One of them is the display of the new Dnipro River channel, without the Kakhovka Reservoir.

The Kakhovka Reservoir was created in the 1950s to provide water supply to the south of Ukraine and develop hydropower. However, as a result of Russian aggression against Ukraine, the dam of the Kakhovka reservoir was destroyed. This resulted in a significant drop in the reservoir's water level and the Dnipro River channel returning to its natural state.

The new map of Ukraine reflects this as accurately as possible. The Dnipro riverbed is shown on the map as of August 29, 2023.

This update is important for understanding the current natural situation in Ukraine. It allows us to see how the Dnipro riverbed has changed after the Russian aggression and how it affects the environment.

In addition to showing the new course of the Dnipro River, the physical map of Ukraine has a number of other unique features:

Detailed relief that allows you to clearly see all the main surface shapes of the country.

Settlements, orographic names, elevation markings, passes, elevation and depth scales, country and regional borders are shown.

A collage of the most famous architectural and natural monuments of Ukraine.

Laminated coating that protects the map from damage.

The physical map of Ukraine is a valuable educational and cognitive material. It will help you better understand the nature of our country.
